Introducing the newest Laundromat on the Mornington Peninsula
And this is how it all began…In 2004 we purchased a small cottage in the township of Rye on the Mornington Peninsula, a suburb we had never really heard of. We had travelled along the Point Nepean Road on our way to catch the ferry many times to Sorrento and would have driven through the township but not paid it much attention. That year we had arrived back in Australia after a 2 year sojourn to the UK and having purchased a house in the city as our main residence we were looking for something cheap to renovate and rent out as an investment property. Our search brought up a cement sheet original cottage in Rye and being only 500 metres from the beach we decided we would invest our time and money into renovating it and making it into a little holiday rental……. and so let us take you on the rest of the journey!
Holiday Cottage to Commercial Laundry
After 3 or 4 years of running a small holiday rental and then a group of cottages in Rye, other property owners started to approach us to ask us to manage their properties, they were wanting to achieve the rental returns/bookings that we were getting. And so Ocean Blue Coastal Retreats was born.
Managing up to 25 properties and the linen associated with each stay was a difficult process. It was our responsibility to audit the owners linen and then ensure that linen was cleaned/laundered after each guest had stayed. Outsourcing this service to a local laundromat meant that we lost control on the linen and invariably we had linen go missing and were responsible for the replacement.
All Washed Out
Jump forward to 2017 and our little cottage in Rye has grown from 1 cottage to a group of cottages then to a property management company and now to a property management company combined with a purpose built commercial laundry. Let us introduce you to All Washed Out.
We spend 12 months researching the best commercial equipment and the most suitable location to combine both of ourbusinesses. Dromana was centrally located on the Mornington Peninsula and we felt that it was the perfect position for our staff, contractors and potential new clients.
We wanted a laundromat that was not open to the general public. A laundromat that had machinery that was gentle on the linen, environmentally friendly and staff that were highly qualified in customer service and all things textiles.
Meet the staff
We knew Fiona (Fee) Mahy through our children and primary school in Frankston South. Fee was a mum at school but she is also a textile artist and worked with us when we volunteered our services at the schools major fundraising event the Derinya Art and Craft Exhibition (DACE). Fee had also been guest artist one year for the craft. With her bubbly personality and all things arty she has taken on the setup of the laundry along with the brainchild of the business, Peter West. She is responsible for the total care and presentation of the linen.
Diane (Di) Fidge joined the team at its inception. A case of being in the right place at the right time. Di was a very loyal guest at one of our holiday rental properties and made the decision to move down to the Peninsula in early 2017. We had always got on well on the phone when she was booking and she felt comfortable enough to ask if we had any jobs available. She is now an integral part of the team and we couldn’t be happier.
So we are all prepared with 15 washing machines and 15 dryers all ready to take on laundry for local businesses in the area. Our focus is on excellent customer service, superior quality laundry services with great attention to detail and care. We have streamlined processes to ensure NO LOST LINEN and outstanding communication. We would love to show you around the facility for you to see all this for yourself. Call Peter on 0488588466 or email email@example.com
We also offer linen hire to guests and accommodation providers in the area. Brand new linen and towels are ready and waiting for you.
Pickup and Delivery
We are happy to pick up and deliver linen. You will see our van around the Peninsula with increased frequency as we head into summer.
